Padel Serve Rules

One of the most important aspects of a game of Padel is the service that is played to begin a point. A Padel serve is quite easier when compared to Tennis; however, there is a list of padel serve rules that you must follow in order to play an acceptable serve. 

Here are the padel serve rules.

  • Before playing the service, the server is required to position themselves with both feet behind the service line between the center line and the sidewall. 
  • Before the game, a coin is tossed and the winner gets to decide which team plays the starting serve.
  • All players are required to play a serve from the right service court diagonally to the opponent’s court. 
  • The service is played by bouncing the ball on the court inside your designated service area and hitting it no higher than the waist height, in other words, known as an underarm serve. 
  • The server is required to keep at least one foot on the ground while hitting the serve. 
  • After bouncing the ball, the racket may contact the ball across the center service line. 
  • The service is required to land in the opponent’s service box. 
  • Players are permitted to play either a forehand or a backhand serve at their discretion. 
  • In case the ball hits the net and lands in the opponent’s service box, it is considered to be a fault and a second serve must occur. 

Rules for Playing Padel Sport

Another list of game rules must be followed while playing Padel that defines the guidelines for scoring, winning, choosing a team, and more! 

  1. A Padel game is played between two pairs or players using regulation Pedal rackets
  2. Points can be scored if the ball bounces twice in the opponent’s court, the ball strikes any opponent player, or the ball hits the fixture before passing the net and landing in the opponent’s court. 
  3. A match consists of three sets, each comprising of six games. The team to win two of the three sets is declared the winner. 
  4. Players are permitted to play balls off walls on their side of the court. 
  5. The lines are considered in play only during the service. They don’t factor in determining the outcome of the point during the game. 

How to Win a Padel Game?

A Padel game is played in the form of the best of three sets. In order to win a set, a team is required to win six games. If at the end of a set, the score becomes 6-6, a tiebreaker must take place which concludes in the favor of the first team to win seven points with two clear points. The first team to lead with two sets of wins is declared as the winner of the game.
