FIP Ranking, the ‘pareja revolution’ will change the hierarchy?

The GNP Mexico P1 gets into full swing today, with the debut of the world’s best pairs, ready to play for their third Premier Padel title of the season after those in Riyadh and Doha. From next week, however, for many pairs it will be like living a new life, with some changes already planned for the P2 in Puerto Cabello. But how will the geography of the FIP ranking change with the new pairs? Adding up the points of the individual players at the publication of the ranking on 18 March – the data used in the formation of the International Padel Federation ranking, unified since this year –, Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia are and will remain at the top of the entry lists of the various tournaments (22976). Right behind, another confirmed ‘pareja’, that formed by Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno (18500). Then there are the new entries, starting with Ale Galan and Federico Chingotto (3, 18262 points), up to Juan Lebron and Momo Gonzalez (4, 14623) and Paquito Navarro and Sanyo Gutierrez (5, 12310), with the Spaniard who will return to play with Lebron in the weeks following the P2 in Venezuela.

WOMEN Compared to the Riyadh Season P1, some pairs in the women’s draw have already changed since the Ooredoo Qatar Major in Doha. Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria are in the lead with 27216 aggregate points, almost 10000 more than Delfina Brea and Bea Gonzalez (2, 17312). The third pair with more ‘aggregate’ points are Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez (3, 12086), finalists in Doha and who have already made their debut with a win in Acapulco, followed by Marta Ortega and Veronica Virseda (4, 11096, also debutants in Doha) and Alejandra Salazar and Tamara Icardo (5, 10632), who have been playing together since the start of the season.
